Match Report 18/04/11
VP's X1 149 all out beat CACC 2nd X1 134 all out by 15 runs. |

An excellent afternoons cricket, well organised by Captain's West
and Lovering, produced an entertaining match which was good practice
for the CACC fringe players, all hoping to make the first team when
the real season starts.
The full strength VP unit, with its normal sprinkling of ex county
players, batted first and totalled 149 with good knocks from E
Hemsley and R Lloyd. The CACC bowling was led by Francis Cundell,
taking 4 wickets, with the rest spread amongst the tidy medium pace
attack.
A most splendid Tea followed. Well done Kate/Kerry/Heather and all
who contributed to the feast. The standard for the season has been
set!!!
In the chase, CACC lost regular wickets with several players making
a start but not going on for that decent score. One more big shot
too early was the common floor. Batting much lower in the order than
normal, Skip arrived at the crease with a great deal to do. He soon
found a partner in slim line Dennis and between them they nurdled
the ball around the field and slowly quietened the opposition. They
then attacked the opposition, thrilling the crowd. The target came
within reach, only for the Skip to run out of partners, being left
on 49 not out.
Andrew Dunkley (Rose and Crown landlord Yardley, fine food etc ) was
the stand out fielder for the VP's.!!
Several of the above CACC players will miss out when the big guns
come in but good experience was gained by all.
